You could also try using FPS dynamic shadows - Shadow Boost as it loads shadows at a far without such a crazy performance cost. If you are experiencing to much lag when using these mods you could try lowering god rays and/or shadows to see if that changes anything. These are just some well known examples that should be OK to use.
